The Three Kings’ Day is a celebration of the adoration of the baby Jesus by the Three Wise Men, the Magi or the Three Kings Melchior, Caspar and Balthazar travelled to present baby Jesus with three symbolic gifts, gold, frankincense and myrrh.

They’re said to have ridden on a horse, a camel and an elephant and often you will see them visiting the towns and villages of Fuerteventura riding camels and throwing sweets for the children

Among the festivities families gather together and cut into a sweet round cake filled with cream called Roscón de Reyes.

Public transport operates a Sunday timetable, banks and government offices are usually closed along with certain shops including supermarkets, especially those located outside of the main tourist resorts.
